Chengdu

Chengdu is known as the "City of Hibiscus" because of flowers planted there over a thousand years ago.  It is still a city of flora and fauna.  It is located in Sichuan province, native habitat of the giant panda.  There are only about one thousand pandas living wild in China.  The Giant Panda Sanctuary here is essential to the survival of the species.

What a wonderful sixtieth birthday present!  I got to pet and feed a giant panda.
