Guanacaste is Costa Rica's driest region.  The Central Mountains cast a rain shadow that creates a landscape quite different from the rain forests.  This is Costa Rica's "Wild West," a land populated with cattle and cowboys (sabaneros).  We drove high into the hills near Parque Nacional Ricon de la Vieja to reach the hacienda, Buena Vista Lodge.
