The beaches of Puntarenas are the closest to San Jose.  The climate here is considerably more humid than that father north in Guanacaste but not quite as steamy as it is on the Caribbean coast.  We stayed right on the Pacific at the Monterey Del Mar beach with plenty of time for savoring sunrises and classy sunsets.
