Founded by Francisco Pizarro in 1535, Lima, Peru, served as the capital of Spain's South American empire for 300 years.

Completed in 1674, the Church of San Francisco is famed for its beautiful blend of Moorish and Spanish styles.  Its vast catacombs were the city's first cemetery.
