    This is a hands-on photography class designed to help you take advantage of more features of your point-and-shoot camera. We will learn about the camera controls and work on overcoming common problems. Come get to know your camera better and improve your photography.

    Snapping a digital picture is only the start of the adventure. What can you do with all those pictures on your camera's memory card?

    In this class we will cover downloading digital photos to the computer, searching for files, organizing and renaming pictures, enhancing pictures with free image editing software and sharing your photographs as email attachments, slideshows, prints, photo books and in online galleries.

    If you have a laptop computer, bring it to class.


  • Editing Digital Photographs—Adobe Photoshop Elements

    Learn to edit your images on the computer using Adobe Photoshop Elements (the home version of Adobe Photoshop). We will cover the basics of cropping, correcting exposure, straightening the picture, capturing and moving parts of the picture, combining several pictures, and other image editing skills.

    Getting good photographs at the beach can be a bit tricky. Learn to take advantage of your camera’s special settings to capture the beauty of the Alabama Gulf Coast.

    Exposure and focus are key elements in digital photography. In this class we will explore the following questions: How does shutter speed affect the image? How can I determine what will be in focus? What is the best lighting for my photographs?

    Exposure is the SCIENCE of photography.

    In this class we apply the elements and principles of design to emphasize the photograph's subject. Learn how to add interest and drama to your digital pictures. Photo composition is the ART of photography.

  • Creating your own Photo Book


    Photo books are a great way to share your pictures with others. We will cover how to prepare your pictures, pick an online publisher, build your book and employ the rules for good book design. Learn to amaze your friends with your publishing talent.
