| Dance, music and drama are prominent in Cambodian life. Each temple had its own orchestra and dancers, modeled after the celestial dancers called apsaras born from the mythic Sea of Milk. Under the Khmer Rouge all dance and music were forbidden and over 90% of the dancers were killed. Today Cambodian dance, folk and classical, has the full support of the royal family. | ||
