Angkor Wat, Siem Reap

Angkor Wat is the world's largest temple.  Building began in 1120 and was completed some 30 years later by King Suryavarman II.  It is dedicated to the Hindu deity Vishnu.  Even after it was abandoned in the 15th century, Buddhist monks visited as pilgrims.

Angkor Wat is a symbol of national pride and appears on the Cambodian flag.
